On March 2025, the Philippines Food and Drug Administration (FDA) released a public health warning about Sweetrip Whitening Freckle Removal Cream, a skin lightening product that marketed without an appropriate Certificate of Product Notification (CPN). The intention of the product is freckle removal and lighten skin color, but it is being sold in the marketplace in an unauthorized manner and may pose a risk to consumer’s health. [1]

What’s Being Recalled

On April 11, 2025, Blue Ridge Beef voluntarily recalled:

  • Puppy Mix (2 lb logs, Lot # N25 1230)
  • Kitten Mix (2 lb logs, Lot # N26 0114)

This followed an earlier January 31, 2025, recall of Natural Mix (Lot # N25/12/31) over suspected Salmonella contamination (fda.gov, fda.gov).

Reason for Recall

State authorities in New York collected samples on March 20, 2025, after a customer reported pet illness. On April 1, the North Carolina Department of Agriculture confirmed the presence of Salmonella and Listeria monocytogenes in both Puppy and Kitten Mix (fda.gov).

Where It Was Sold

The affected 2 lb clear-wrapped logs were sold between January 3 and 24, 2025, in retail stores across:

Virginia, Maryland, Pennsylvania, Connecticut, Massachusetts, New York State, Tennessee, Rhode Island, Wisconsin. (fda.gov).

Health Risks

Human Health Risks: Handling contaminated logs or surfaces without washing hands may lead to:

  • Symptoms: nausea, vomiting, diarrhea (possibly bloody), stomach cramps, fever
